If you are signing up for your first weightlifting meet or your tenth there are going to be things that make you nervous. This is a natural feeling and can actually prove beneficial in order to truly test your abilities as an athlete. You can be nervous about a lot of things, but one thing should never get to you and make your question your own abilities is how the other lifters look or lift in the warm up area. Lifters that you have never seen before may look strong or fast or crisp, but you are there to play your game and not theirs. What or how your competition does in the warm up room has no bearing on the standings when everything is said and done. Everything that matters is done in front of the curtain and not behind it so steady your focus on your own prep and do not let the competition shake you.
